Chapters & learning objectives

1. Sensory Processing Disorder
In the first chapter of this course, Jenny Clark examines current neuroscience support for sensory processing disorder (SPD). Participants will learn to assimilate a battery of assessments to clearly identify SPD for effective intervention planning. They will review evidence-based practices for occupational therapy using a sensory integration approach (OT-SI).

2. Subtypes of Sensory Processing Disorder
Jenny Clark identifies six subtypes of sensory processing disorder. Participants will learn to distinguish characteristics and signs & symptoms for SPD subtypes. Clark explores case examples of SPD subtypes for symptoms, treatment, and clinical results.

3. Sensory Diet
Chapter 3 reviews the components of a sensory diet. Participants will learn to develop a repertoire of alerting, modulating, and calming sensory strategies. Jenny Clark demonstrates how to utilize techniques and resources for sensory self-regulation in children.
